You’re right. The girl’s belly dancing was a big thing in the music industry. You just saw her dance in the TV commercials and she had her belly pulled back and she didn’t dance as much. They thought that she sucked the attention away from the music industry and they wanted more opportunities to promote their new album. That’s what it was all about. She’s been at the top of the pyramid with everybody in the business. It’s like she’s on a pedestal that she has no power over. When you look at all of the artists in this business, everybody is a star at some point. Everybody is trying to become a star, but everybody is very hard to break into the business. You don’t want to be a superstar, so she had the opportunity to come in and play a part. She wanted to be an even bigger star, which is great. But then people started telling her she’s a slut, which is the whole point. And she knew that and I think people started being less interested in her because of it. It made it more difficult for her to come across as a strong, confident woman.

She’s been at the top of the pyramid with everybody in the business, she told The New York Times, and they wanted more opportunities to promote their new album. That’s what it was all about.

So this is her story. She’s also trying to be a more responsible character in this record. Maybe she’s a better artist, because there may come a time when this is what she will do, and that is great.
